Tray is velvet over foam tubes, true to size stated. Right & left ends show foam - not covered with velvet, but color of foam is dark like the velvet, so it sort of blends. I bought these ring trays for my mom because she had been looking for something to organize all her fun, funky rings. I looked at several bigger, more expensive options but ended up buying these because I thought she could tuck them into smaller spaces within her larger jewelry chests. She LOVES them and wants to order several more! She has her rings organized by color and they are much easier to find than being thrown in a pile. The ring tray is a big disappointment. The product photo does show the exposed foam core ends, but the ones that I received have glue marks where the fabric is wrapped around the foam. The picture also shows the tray as all black, but the bottom of both of them are grey cardboard which really makes them look cheap....like a home craft project gone wrong. If you are purchasing this item to supplement ring holders in a jewelry box as one reviewer noted, then perhaps it doesn't matter. If you intend on using these in a jewelers case or want to display your rings for any purpose, then choose a better quality one.
